Whiles conducting this research I found alot of people I would ask to take part in my reseach were camera shy and would not want to take part in my research for that reason.

Many of the people asked knew what a short film was as they were the only ones avaliable at this particular time and many were media students. Therefore I will be conducting another form of median in order to establish what my audience want or would expect. I may do this through a questionnaire or survery and therefore should get a balance of answers, with poople who know what short film is and dont, this way participants will be able to open up and give their true opinions or answers and not just conform to what they think they should say as they are on film.

In addition, it was also identifed in the video that short films are detailed yet direct. This is useful because it has reinforced the fact that are short film must be concise because we only have 5 minutes to show a devloped plot with developed characters. The majority of the people said they would expect a short film to tell as story straighht awy and not drag out the plot.

The majority of my audience admitted to preferring feature length films over short films because they are longer and better developed in that they have nore to tell etc. I have thaken this into consideration by ensuring the short film i create is just as entertaining and developed as a feature length film.

My primary research indicates that the majority of people dont know exactly what a short film is through my survery however my video suggests somepeople do however know some of the forms that short films may take such as, content length, characters etc.

My primary research indicates the majority of my audience do not know exactly what a short film is. However they do know some conventions of short film such as, it should be short in length, experimental but engaging and straight to the point. Some of the audience also knewof the forms that some short films take i.e. cartoons and adverts. YouTube was mentioned in our primary research which highlights the strong awarness of youtube within the audience but also shows YouTube is as a starting platform for the distribution of short films that may have un-recognised producers and directors and possibly a small budget allowing audiences to be entertained for free and at their own demand.

In addition, it was also identifed that short films are detailed yet direct. This is useful because it has reinforced the fact that my short film must be concise as it will only be 5 minutes, therefore i will have to show a well developed plot that still engages the audience.

The majority of the population who completed our survey admited that they are not really bothered about short films hense why the majority of the population prefer feature length films to short films. This could be for many reasons, such as length, plots, characters etc but I feel a major factor of this is due to the distribution and marketing of short films, which goes back to having a small budget, short films are not released in cinemas and do not have enough funding to do big merchandising events like the production teams for fast and furious or the hunger games would, with society becoming more developed and advanced with technology, not many people go to film festivals which could be an issue for shprt fiilm. I have taken this into consideration and by ensuring my short film entertains and has an emotional effect on the audience, my short film will e just as good as feature length film, also by using social media such as, YouTube, Facebook,Twitter, Instagram I would be able to distribute as well as promote my product. This wouls be helpful as within the development of society, social media plays an important role in peoples life in that it has almost consumed them.

The results about genre's has been taken into account specificly who dramas are aimed at as this would realy make or break my film as iwould have to give the audinece what they expect but also make sure i am aiming my product towards the right audience.

Purpose

The reason why I carried out this audience expectations and target audience research was to increase my knowledge of short film and docudramas. I wanted to know what audiences truely know about a documdrama and their expectations. Question such as who do you think Docudramas should be aimed at, allows me to examine my 5 minute short film and which one of the certificate rating it could link in with to show that we have considered the audience expectatations, to act upon my short film as well as gender.
